King of Samora :Donne Jovi Gives A Brilliant NRTV interview
Donne Jovi - Is an actor, hip-hop emcee, journalist in one
After a hectic work day in Harare, whilst getting a little rest, I thoroughly enjoyed watching an interview last night on YouTube.
One of our greatest emcees when it comes to both pre-written and improv, will always be Donne Jovi. He proclaims himself to be the King of Samora, a controversial take of course, but “'YES!”'- he is a proven vet!
The multiple award winning hip-hop emcee, actor and journalist had a seat on NRTV’s The Daily Dose, where he was very expressive, profound, humourous and prophetic.
He went from explaining the pressure he had to face from family expectations, to finally be accepted for taking the path of Hip-hop, which was belittled and frowned upon prior to his progress.
He remained very animated, in good vibes, as he addressed that his stay in South Africa and training opened his eyes to some opportunities that Zimbabwe could tap into and affirmed that we were in a creative renaissance, giving credence to all creatives who have made time to hone their art despite having to go to a 9 to 5.
Societal issues such as classism, stigma and self hatred were also touched on.
Many other in depth issues were covered which you can only chime into if you click this link to watch the full interview yourself.
